In January 0f 2009 something crazy and awesome happened for me, SharePoint Saturday was born. I was a 26 year old girl from Saint Louis Missouri who was living in Olathe, KS. About 5 month prior I went to the most pivotal event in my career and life in Washington DC, the Regional SharePoint Conference, where I met Michael Lotter, Paul Galvin, Tony Lanni, Bob Fox, and Rachel Appel. Several months later I was visiting Michael at a code camp in Raleigh North Carolina and he told me we’re going to have ...
There are weeks we go about our life thinking nothing is going to change nothing will happen. Then there are other weeks a billion things happen at once. Friday started off very weird for me. I flew into Atlanta and I met some cool people for another SharePoint event. I had some good conversations. Saturday then hit me and my virtual machine bombed in my presentation after the auto updater ran. I was writing code on the board and describing everything in notepad. I would say as presentations go it ...
No this is not SharePoint or Silverlight related at all. Tomorrow is 09/09/09 and the Beatles, one of my favorite bands of all time aside from Green Day and Three Dog Night, are releasing there albums in digital format entirely remastered plus as a bonus Harmonix is releasing a special version of Rockband. I can probably throw away $60 for the game, but not so much the money for the remastered tracks. Growing up my dad was born in the 50’s, so his music was primary the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the ...
So I decided it was time to take a few minutes this week and discuss what I learned this week. This moral is not really something new it's more a reiteration. I hate third party features with little to no documentation. I like developing my own products and knowing what I am doing. I was working with some big name third party feature and I felt like an idiot. First off I had to contact them to get an older version of the product. Some guy with a name like Frankenstein's henchman contacted me. If ...
I'm taking two steps back and one step forward. As some of you know I had a not so great last week due to taking on way too much in life. This past year has been my let's get active and out of the house year. It ended up becoming the "Becky Cannot Say No" year. I am one of those people who has a philosophy that involves giving yourself at least 1 hour to do something absolutely brainless per day. For me if I don't get that one hour I start to have issues in my life. So from last week on I am giving ...
So I finally went out got the IPhone and love it so much. I ended up not killing At&t and getting it an entire day early without getting charged. I downloaded a ton of different applications for music and tweeting and such. There some things I don't quite like, but will deal with as time progresses and get used to the quirks: For example, I must have really big fingers and continuously hit the wrong buttons. It drives me insane, but it is still far superior to text messaging on my horrible old ...
